The Beret Slouch Crochet Pattern #265 is made with worsted weight medium, size 4 yarn. Pictures are shown using I Love This Yarn (Hobby Lobby Stores) in Peacock. I love this vibrant blue color so much, however, this style is also so elegant in neutral and darks. A sophisticated black is always a hit! Below you will find the free pattern. You can also purchase an inexpensive, printer-friendly, PDF of this pattern at my Etsy shop MarlowsGiftCottage, or with the direct pattern link here.
My MarlowsGiftCottage Etsy shop has all of my original crochet pattern designs. You will find slouchy hats, beanie hats, ear warmers, headbands, scarves, cowls, wraps, blankets (baby, afghan, throw), baskets, bowls, etc.

The Beret Slouch is a statement piece accessory for teens and women! This pattern is one size fits most…due to its ability to stretch.
Crochet Pattern #265 The Beret Slouch
Wide Band Slouchy Hat

Advanced Beginner
Please read all directions before beginning project.
Size: Teen/Adult…this hat will fit many head sizes due to its stretch.
Materials List:
-Medium/Worsted Weight Yarn (Size 4), 1 skein (Pictures are shown using I Love This Yarn (Hobby Lobby Stores) in Peacock (which has 355 yards per skein) … you will have lots leftover
–US H/8-5.00 mm crochet hook…check gauge…feel free to change hook size to get the correct gauge. Gauge is very important
–Tapestry Needle (for weaving in ends)
–Scissors and flexible tape measure
Gauge:
The gauge is approximately 7 sc X 8 1/2 rows = 2 in x 2 in (best to measure the sc in the band…easiest to get a more accurate gauge measurement in the sc band because the increasing and decreasing, of the bl sc in the slouch, makes it more difficult to get an accurate reading).
Notes:
-For R1-R43: Make sure you are joining into the first sc.
-* means repeat what is between them
-ch=chain, sc= single crochet, bl sc= back loop single crochet, bl sc dec= back loop single crochet decrease, sl st= slip stitch, st(s)= stitch(es)
-Count your stitches after each round to be sure you do not miss a stitch
Special Stitches:
bl sc dec: back loop single crochet decrease = Insert your hook into the back loop of the next st, YO and draw the yarn through the st, insert your hook into the back loop of the next st, YO and draw the yarn through the st, YO and draw the yarn through all 3 loops on your hook…this will equal 1 complete back loop single crochet decrease
Instructions:
- An inexpensive, printer-friendly, PDF version is available here, if you prefer… along with my complete portfolio of all of my original crochet patterns.

Hat will be worked wrong side out (back of st out) for the slouch part.
